Matte Black Door Knob & Deadbolt Reinforcement Backplate — 2-Pack
Product description
Compatibility and purpose: These backplates are sized to fit most standard door knob and lever locksets as well as typical deadbolts. They are intended to conceal scratches, chips and oversized or mismatched holes, while helping to stabilize a loose lock.
What you get: The package contains two reinforcement backplates and adhesive tape strips to attach them without nails or screws. The tape is included in the box so you can install immediately.
Construction and finish: Each plate is made with a thickened, rigid construction and finished in matte black to blend with many hardware styles. The added thickness increases load-bearing capacity compared with thinner decorative plates.
How to use: Clean the surface, peel the backing from the supplied adhesive strips and press the plate into position around the lock or knob. Plates can be mounted vertically or horizontally to best cover existing damage or gaps. Suitable for interior and exterior doors and tolerant of dry or humid conditions.
Pros
- Tool-free, adhesive installation
- Covers damage and fills gaps
- Thicker build adds reinforcement
Cons
- Included tape can be weak for some applications
- May not cover very large damaged areas
- Finish may differ slightly between batches
VerdictA simple, low-effort repair option that hides wear and strengthens the area around standard knobs and deadbolts. The plates come with adhesive for tool-free fitting and are made with thicker construction for added support. Good appearance and wide compatibility, though some users prefer stronger mounting tape for long-term security.

Protects the handle area after repaint
After cleaning and repainting my garage entry, I used this to keep the handle area cleaner and protected from scuffs. Installation was straightforward and the finish matches well. I only wish it extended a bit farther to hide more of the surrounding wear, otherwise very pleased.

Covers the worn spot nicely
Looks sharp and hid the damaged area around my knob. My 30-year-old grandson installed it quickly with no fuss.

Good gap filler
Handy for covering the gap left by a larger, previous knob — neat and unobtrusive.

Perfect for fixing oversized holes
Installed this after adding a smart keypad because the previous hole was too big. It covered the space cleanly, felt secure and was inexpensive compared to replacing the door.

Saved me from a full door replacement
My door had a crack and replacing it was costly. This plate fit over the damaged section perfectly and blends in because it's white. Quality is solid for the price. The only issue was the supplied double-sided tape — not very tacky; stronger 3M tape would help.

Works, but use better tape
The plate itself is fine, but the supplied adhesive lacks holding power. I recommend using a quality mounting tape or epoxy for a long-lasting bond.

Transformed my old hardware
Sprayed my worn brass knobs black, added these plates vertically and the door looks refreshed with a farmhouse vibe. The plates fit standard holes and were thin enough to reuse my screws. The tape was strong; I bought more packs to redo additional doors.
