B&W TS51230 Receiver Hitch Lock — Fits 2, 2.5 & 3-Inch Receivers
Product description
The B&W TS51230 receiver hitch lock is offered to secure ball mounts, cargo carriers and other hitch accessories across common receiver sizes. It is compatible with 2-, 2.5- and 3-inch receiver tubes and is supplied with two precision-cut, matching keys for daily use and a spare.
Operation is intended to be simple: the pin uses an internal auto-return spring so the lock engages automatically when the pin is slid into a compatible receiver — no twisting or special alignment needed. Security is provided by a dual ball-bearing locking mechanism that seats inside the receiver tube to minimize movement and dampen rattle while resisting prying.
Construction is primarily stainless steel to withstand road spray, rain and seasonal exposure. A watertight dust cap covers the cylinder opening to help keep debris and moisture out, preserving smooth function. The lock is manufactured in the United States and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty from the maker.
Typical use involves sliding the pin through the hitch and accessory, allowing the auto-lock to catch, and securing access with one of the supplied keys. The unit’s size and solid construction make it suitable for everyday towing and for securing gear while parked or in transit.
Pros

VerdictThe TS51230 provides straightforward, rugged protection for hitch-mounted gear. It comes with two matched keys and a limited lifetime warranty from the manufacturer. Most users will appr

Solved a compatibility issue
I had an old keyed trailer lock and lost the truck key. This pin matched the Bolt trailer lock pin and worked perfectly. Seems tough and reliable.

Failure under load — caution advised
My pin sheared at the locking area while towing a 5,500 lb trailer on a slight incline. Safety chains prevented disaster, but the locking mechanism appeared loose. I’d choose a different style for heavy-duty towing.

Solid build, feels engineered
Right out of the box it felt extremely solid. Heavier and more robust than others I’ve owned, and I like that it locks by pushing it in — no key needed to set it. Hoping it lasts a long time.

High quality but pricey
Feels well made, though I expected more for the cost. It started showing rust after about six months, which was disappointing.

Very macho packaging and feel
Big, heavy and macho — even the box looks rugged. Takes a little effort to slide it in but feels very sturdy once seated.

Much better than a cotter pin
Replaced my cotter pin — far easier to use and fits perfectly. Makes hooking up quicker.

Bulky but effective
It’s on the large side and can be awkward if wiring or a 7-pin plug sits close to the receiver, but otherwise it functions well.

Hard to steal
Perfect fit and heavy-duty feel. Should deter casual thieves and keep honest folks honest.

My go-to hitch pin
I own several products from this brand and this pin is easy to use. It includes two keys so you can keep one spares on a separate ring. Nicely finished and a good fit.

Durable in varied weather
I’ve used this for several years through rain and snow and it’s held up better than many alternatives I’ve had to cut off previously.
