KOHLBURG Heavy-Duty Combination Chain Bike Lock — 43 in (110 cm)
Product description
What you get: a single heavy-duty combination chain lock assembly comprising the 8mm hardened steel chain with square-profile links, the integrated combination lock head with stainless-steel dials, and a protective sleeve to help prevent paint damage and reduce noise.
Materials & dimensions: The chain is constructed from 8mm hardened steel links formed in a square profile to increase resistance to cutting tools. Total length is 43 inches (110 cm), long enough to loop through a frame and wheel or to secure several bikes or a motorcycle. The lock head uses stainless-steel combination wheels rather than plastic dials and the complete unit weighs roughly 5.1 lbs (about 2.3 kg).
How to use: Thread the chain around a fixed anchor — a post, rail, or trailer rack — then feed the chain end into the lock head and set the combination. The length allows you to reach around large immovable objects while keeping both frame and at least one wheel secured. The unit is intended for regular outdoor use on e-bikes, scooters, mopeds, motorcycles, and conventional bicycles.
Security rating & performance: This model carries a Sold Secure GOLD rating after testing intended to simulate attacks like bolt cutters. The square link profile and hardened steel construction deliver improved cut resistance compared with thinner or round-link chains. Because of the materials used, the lock is comparatively heavy; that mass is part of what gives it higher protective value.
Notes & support: Due to the weight, consider whether you can carry it comfortably or prefer to leave it with a vehicle or rack. Some setup steps are required when changing the code; follow the included instructions carefully. The maker offers customer support for questions about operation, replacement codes, or insurance-related certification inquiries.
Pros
- 8mm hardened steel square links for cut resistance
- Sold Secure GOLD certification
- 43 in length secures frame and wheel or multiple bikes
Cons
- Heavier than lighter locks at about 5.1 lbs
- Some plastic components around the release can feel exposed
- Combination wheels may be stiff at first
VerdictA rugged combination chain that prioritizes protection over portability. The 8mm hardened steel links and stainless dials deliver strong resistance to common attacks, and the 43" length easily secures frame and wheel. Expect notable weight — a tradeoff for higher security — but overall a trustworthy option for e-bikes, motorcycles, and multiple-bike situations.

Strong and practical
Exactly what I needed for my e-bike. Long enough for lamp posts and rails, very thick chain with a protective cover; the combo works flawlessly.

Very solid and reassuring
Excellent lock, very sturdy and secure. A bit heavy, but that confirms the quality.

Good lock — follow the setup steps
Very solid overall. Read the code-change instructions before you start; I removed the cap too soon and had to glue it back, but it still functions well. I trust it more than other locks.

Secure and roomy length
Heavy as advertised, which helps with security. 110 cm is enough to attach two bikes, and the combination lock is easy to use. Very good.

Thick and long
Beefy chain and plenty long to reach both tires.

Nearly perfect, one weak point
Sturdy unit overall, but the plastic cover over the release tab feels vulnerable to a hard hit. Still, I’ve bought two and am happy.

Solid German feel
Very sturdy chain and lock. Instructions were in German, so I figured out the code change myself and it works perfectly now.

Heavy but effective
It’s bulky to handle, which is why I gave four stars, but after five months it’s kept my e-bike safe when locked to my trailer.

Built like a tank
Rugged, heavy-duty set. I use it on my electric bike and it gives me a real sense of security.

Insurance-friendly and handy
Secure chain with an acceptable weight for an e-bike. Code system removes the need for keys. Seller responded quickly and it’s well rated by insurers.

Dials can be stiff
The combination wheels are hard to move for me — fiddly and frustrating at first.
