7075 Aluminum Screw‑Lock Climbing Carabiner — 4in, 25kN Rating
Product description
What’s included: Each purchase provides one D‑shaped screw‑lock carabiner made from 7075 aluminum. Units are commonly ordered in multiples, and individual pieces typically arrive wrapped for protection.
Locking action: The carabiner uses a threaded screw sleeve that operates smoothly with the thumb and index finger. It requires about 3.5 turns to move between fully open and fully locked positions, giving a positive tactile feel when securing the gate.
Certifications and ratings: This model meets UIAA and CE standards. Major axis strength is rated at 25 kN (approximately 5,621 lbs) with a cross‑load rating of 7 kN. That makes it suitable for rock climbing, mountaineering, rappelling, rescue tasks, and other load‑bearing applications such as securing large dogs or heavy gear.
Design improvements: The latest generation has a larger locking sleeve that overlaps the nose by about 0.3 inches compared with earlier designs. The nose fits snugly when closed, so there is very little left‑to‑right play. The screw threads are profiled to reduce grit and debris ingress for more reliable long‑term operation.
Dimensions and weight: Net weight is approximately 2.15 oz. Overall height measures about 3.93 inches; width at the widest point is roughly 2.3 inches, narrowing to about 1.77 inches at the slimmer section. The gate opening is approximately 0.66 inches. The D shape and rounded edges are finished to minimize abrasion on hands and gear.
Materials and uses: Constructed from 7075 aluminum for a high strength‑to‑weight ratio and corrosion resistance. The carabiner works well in climbing gyms and alpine settings, for outdoor recreation like hiking and camping, for marine and sun‑shade attachments, for hanging feed bags and barn use, and for general gear organization such as keychains or tool tethers.
Pros
- High 25 kN major axis strength while remaining light (2.15 oz)
- Smooth, secure screw sleeve with larger coverage of the nose
- 7075 aluminum construction resists corrosion and wear
Cons
- Gate opening is modest (0.66 in), limiting bulky gear entry
- Requires ~3.5 turns to fully lock, which takes slightly longer
- Not rated for loads beyond the 7 kN cross‑load limit
VerdictThis 7075 aluminum screw‑lock carabiner combines a high strength rating with very low weight (2.15 oz), a secure screw sleeve, and a finish designed to resist corrosion and grit. The larger locking sleeve and snug nose reduce unwanted movement when closed, and the device’s UIAA/CE ratings mean it’s suitable for climbing, rappelling, rescue, and heavy‑duty general use. Holds up under heavy use
I hang slow‑feed hay bags with these. Horses are hard on hardware and these have lasted years, so I bought extras.

Great for boat shade
Used to fasten a sun shade on a boat. Amazingly light compared to the hefty rating, and the locking gate prevents accidental release.

Secure and light — good all‑rounder
Each carabiner arrived individually wrapped. They’re easy to use and the screw lock keeps things closed. I used them camping and now keep one on my keys because of the low weight. Pros: light, simple to use, secure. Cons: none so far.
