UV-C Aquarium Sterilizer Lamp with Timer — Submersible 3W–11W Options
Product description
This submersible UV-C sterilizer is offered in multiple power levels — 3W, 5W, 7W, 9W, and 11W — so you can choose a model suited to small tanks, sumps, filter boxes, or compact backyard ponds. The lamp produces germicidal light centered at about 254 nm to help reduce free-floating algae and microbial cloudiness.
The package includes the UV-C lamp assembly with its sealed housing, the power/timer control, and the necessary cording and connectors for installation. The lamp is built with a glass discharge tube housed inside a watertight body and sealed components rated IP68, allowing safe operation in wet filter compartments and similar environments. Rated life is up to roughly 10,000 hours under normal use.
A built-in smart timer provides four user-selectable runtimes — 3, 6, 12, or 24 hours — so you can restrict operation to conserve energy or to match maintenance routines. For effective results, the unit is intended to be placed where water passes close to the lamp: inside hang-on-back filter casings, inside sump chambers, top filter boxes, or in-line within a recirculating filtration path.
Safety guidance is important: the glass tube should be handled gently, and direct exposure of skin or eyes to UV-C must be avoided. Install the lamp within a filter compartment or a covered area to shield people and pets while allowing water to flow past the lamp for treatment. The device is also useful in small enclosed applications where moisture resistance is required.
Manufacturer information includes EPA Est. No.: 102510-CHN-1. Customer support is available for troubleshooting and questions, and the seller states responsive service if you need assistance.

- Multiple wattage choices for different tank sizes
- 254 nm UV-C output targets suspended algae and microbes
- IP68-rated for submerged or wet compartment use
Cons
- Glass tube requires careful handling
- Effectiveness depends on proper placement and water flow
- Higher-watt models may be needed for larger systems
VerdictA practical, water-safe UV-C unit for hobby aquarists and small pond owners who want clearer water without chemicals. Its 254 nm output and selectable timer settings make it useful inside filter housings and sumps; durable IP68 construction and a long rated lifespan add reliability, provided you follow safety precautions for handling the glass tube.

Cleared my green tank
This UV bulb handled a persistent algae bloom in my 55-gallon tank after I installed it in the hang-on-back filter. Water turned crystal clear within days.

Used it in my fridge
I put this inside my refrigerator for sanitizing purposes. It works, but next time I'd choose a higher wattage for stronger effect.

Works, slightly large for my setup
Performs as intended but the unit is a bit bulky for my filter chamber. If your housing is compact measure first.

Helped restore tank health
After battling ich and doing gravel cleaning, my tank clouded and seemed to be re-cycling. The UV lamp cleared the water noticeably in a few days and really improved things within a week. I run it a few hours daily and was able to add new fish afterwards.

Took care of cloudy water — needs patience
I run a 20-gallon tall tank with a hang-on-back filter. After a mysterious cloudiness that resisted changes and clarifiers, I fitted this UV lamp in the filter housing with low flow and added some floss. No change on day one, but by day two the milkiness began to lift, and clarity improved steadily after that. Worth trying before more drastic fixes.
