TESSAN Outdoor Smart Plug — 3-Outlet 2.4GHz Wi‑Fi Waterproof Controller
Product description
Setup and connectivity: This unit connects only to 2.4GHz Wi‑Fi. For first-time pairing enable Bluetooth on your phone, connect your handset to the 2.4GHz network, and configure the plug with the Smart Life mobile app. After initial setup you can link the Smart Life account to Alexa or Google Home to use voice commands.
Outlets and power limits: The device houses three separately switchable grounded outlets. Each outlet is rated for up to 15A / 1875W and supports motors up to 2 HP. Use these individual channels to run lights, pumps, fountains, or other garden equipment, and avoid continuous operation at the maximum rating to prolong life.
Timing and automation: The app allows independent scheduling for each of the three sockets — daily and weekly schedules, countdown timers, and scenes. This lets you automate lighting sequences or set delayed shutoffs for appliances to conserve energy.
Materials and protection: The enclosure is molded from durable ABS plastic with weather seals around the outlet shutters. Each socket is covered by a flip cover to keep out rain, snow, and dust. The unit includes a short 3.94‑inch cord for flexible placement and features gaskets to help prevent moisture ingress. For long-term reliability avoid leaving the unit in standing water or under prolonged direct heat, and check covers periodically to ensure they’re clean and dry.
Usage and warranty: Designed for outdoor use with pool pumps, decorative fountains, holiday lighting and garden tools, it gives per-outlet control plus voice and remote operation through the Smart Life ecosystem. The product comes with an 18‑month warranty against manufacturing defects.
Pros
- Three independently controlled grounded outlets
- App scheduling plus Alexa/Google voice control
- Weatherproof covers and sealed housing
Cons
- Requires 2.4GHz Wi‑Fi and initial Bluetooth setup
- Some automations depend on cloud connectivity
- Short power cord limits placement options
VerdictA solid outdoor Wi‑Fi power strip for automating lights, pumps and garden gear. It offers three independently controlled outlets, app and voice integration, and adequate weather protection for typical backyard tasks. Performance is dependable in most home environments, but advanced users should note that some remote automations rely on cloud connectivity. Overall a practical choice for homeowners

Well built and handles heavy pumps without overheating
Sturdy construction, fast connection to the Smart Life app, and reliable timers. It powers a 1200W bog pump and a large waterfall aerator without getting hot. Good wattage capability and seem durable so far.

Stopped powering devices in under a month
Bought in June 2026 and it failed in July 2026. The unit still pairs with the app and the indicator LED responds, but when I plug anything into the sockets there’s no power output. Appears to be an internal failure despite normal app behavior.

Easy setup and good range with Smart Life app
I wanted a simple smart switch and this paired quickly. Using the Smart Life app made it straightforward since I already control other devices there. The three outlets give room to expand; even from a weak Wi‑Fi spot it has stayed connected and responsive.

Great for greenhouse lighting — surprised by features
I bought this to power grow lights in a garage greenhouse. After setting up the app it performed better than I expected. I didn’t realize the unit had three independent outlets until I started using it — each one can be named and given its own schedule. The quick start guide was a bit unclear, but photos helped me figure it out in minutes. Integration with Alexa makes it simple to switch the lights on by voice.

Perfect for controlling a fountain and lights separately
This 3-way outdoor switch solved my dual-cord fountain setup. I needed independent schedules for the pump and the lights and this lets me set each outlet differently in the Smart Life app. It also responds to Alexa, so I can turn the fountain off with voice when I’m cleaning it.

Works, but not safe for water tank refill pumps
If you manually enable an outlet in the app, then later cycle power to the house, that outlet can come back on automatically when power returns. That means a pump left connected could run unintentionally after an outage and waste water. I wouldn’t use these for automatic cistern or tank filling systems.

Solid hardware, but cloud reliance limits remote rebooting
I use several of these and they last a long time, but there’s a major limitation: remote power cycles depend on internet access. If the home loses internet, the app-based restart routines won’t trigger the outlet reboot locally, so a remote restart won’t work. That makes them risky for devices that must auto‑recover without cloud access.

Reliable and straightforward — years of trouble-free use
I installed three of these for holiday and accent lighting three years ago and later added a fourth for patio string lights. All units paired with the Smart Life app without hassle and have reconnected reliably after power outages. They’ve lived outdoors year-round and handled seasonal weather with no problems.
