COROS POD 2 Foot-Mounted Running Sensor — Pace & Treadmill Tracker
Product description
The COROS POD 2 is a compact sensor designed to be clipped to your shoe or worn on the waist to capture running motion directly from the foot or torso. The package includes the POD 2 sensor, a magnetic charging cradle, and a simple clip/attachment for shoe or belt mounting. The unit is built with a durable plastic housing and metal charging contacts; it’s small and lightweight so it does not interfere with normal running mechanics.
Inside the POD 2 is an upgraded accelerometer and motion-sensing firmware that provide near-instant pace updates to a paired COROS watch. By taking measurements from the foot rather than the wrist, it eliminates the multi-second lag that wrist-based GPS pacing can introduce and delivers a more immediate pace readout during intervals or surges. Pairing is handled through the COROS watch and app for live data streaming.
For indoor use, the POD 2 tracks foot motion through an XYZ plane and automatically calibrates stride metrics to calculate distance on treadmills or indoor tracks. This self-calibration refines stride length and distance estimates without relying on GPS. On hilly routes, the sensor feeds data into COROS’s Effort Pace metric, making effort estimates far more responsive than standard GPS alone. In urban environments where satellite signals bounce or drop, the POD 2’s internal sensors help correct pace spikes and stabilize distance and pace readouts.
Note on compatibility: the POD 2 works with COROS watches except for the original PACE model. Charging is via the magnetic dock included in the box, and the unit is designed for easy attachment and removal so you can switch mounting positions depending on the metrics you want to collect.
Pros
- Very responsive instant pace from foot-mounted data
- Improves treadmill and indoor distance accuracy
- Helps correct GPS disruptions in urban environments
Cons
- Only compatible with most COROS watches (PACE1 excluded)
- May require occasional manual calibration for varied workouts
- Adds another device to manage and charge
VerdictA compact, technically capable running sensor that meaningfully tightens pace responsiveness and indoor distance tracking when paired with a COROS watch. It’s especially useful for treadmill sessions and hilly routes, though occasional calibration and the restricted compatibility should be considered before buying.

Adds useful form and fitness data
I use it with COROS tests for form and running fitness checks. It performs reliably. Treadmill readings improved, though I still calibrate the watch to the treadmill occasionally. Worth it if you want more running-form metrics.

Works only with COROS watches
The unit is excellent but didn’t pair with my non-COROS watch, so I had to return it. Disappointed I couldn’t use it with my device but hoped returns would be accepted.

Does exactly what it should
Performs as expected. Great accuracy on treadmill and indoor runs, pairs easily, very lightweight, and focuses on the running metrics that matter.

Good outdoors, calibration needed for varied paces
It improves run data accuracy but can be slow to sync. For workouts with mixed paces it sometimes over- or underestimates until I calibrate with treadmill mileage afterward. Outdoors it adds strong accuracy and useful metrics despite these quirks.

Unobtrusive, accurate, and clear data
Small and lightweight, easy to clip on and hardly noticeable. Tracks cadence, ground contact time, stride length, and balance consistently. Pairs quickly with the COROS app and feels stable during workouts; data is trustworthy and integration with a COROS watch is seamless.

Solid and reliable pod
Does its job — better indoor accuracy and extra stats. Battery life exceeded my expectations and charging is straightforward.

Accurate updates but feels costly
It delivers faster, more accurate pace updates to my older Pace 2, which helps with interval work. I’d say it’s pricey for casual users, but it’s very helpful for targeted training.

Indispensable for serious treadmill sessions
I’ve used this pod almost every run for over a year. The instant pace is invaluable for training and treadmill accuracy is excellent. Battery life is strong — I run ~40 miles/week and only charge the pod every couple weeks, the dock holds charge too. Connectivity is usually solid, though long pauses can cause odd behavior on resume; not a deal-breaker for me.

Simple to use, calibrate first
Very convenient and quick to set up. One time I clipped it to my shoe but it thought it was on my waist, so the data was wrong until I performed the manual calibration on the watch. After a couple weeks the precision improved and battery life held up well with daily runs.

Excellent sensor for COROS APEX PRO users
Great accessory to complement the COROS APEX PRO. Clean tracking and interesting post-run metrics. Can be mounted on the foot for stride, cadence, and temperature, or on the waist for balance data. Attractive and effective.
