CASIMR Adjustable Dog Car Barrier for SUVs, Trucks & Hatchbacks
Product description
This CASIMR pet barrier is supplied as a multi-panel steel mesh divider intended to block the cargo area from the passenger cabin. The kit includes one main mesh panel, two attachable side panels, four sets of circular clamps to lock the side panels to the center section, and two 27.5-inch nylon straps with metal buckles to secure the assembly to the front seat headrests.
The main panel measures 38 inches long by 16.1 inches high. Each side panel measures 16.6 inches long by 12.2 inches high. When the structure is extended to its maximum with the optimized frame design, it reaches up to 61.9 inches across — wide enough to span cargo openings in many SUVs, vans, trucks, Jeeps and hatchbacks.
Unlike simpler single-piece dividers, this model uses four circular clamps to stabilize the side panels against the main panel, reducing side-to-side movement. The barrier installs without tools: adjust the side panels into position, lock the clamps, then tighten the nylon straps around the headrests. The unit can be folded to a compact package measuring about 17.2 by 13.6 by 2.4 inches for storage.
Construction uses thickened steel wire with reinforced welds designed to resist pawing or biting. A smooth spray coating protects upholstery and occupants from scratches while helping to prevent corrosion, so the partition is intended to be long-lasting and rust-resistant.
Intended uses include keeping pets out of the front seats, guarding the cabin from dirt and hair, and preventing animals from distracting the driver. The barrier is adjustable to accommodate different vehicle interior widths and offers a combination of strength and portability for road trips and everyday travel.
Pros
- Adjustable, wide-fit design for many vehicle types
- Thickened steel wire with rust-resistant coating
- Folds down compactly for easy storage
Cons
- Stock headrest straps can be weak in some installs
- Multiple panels may rattle on rough roads
- May require two people or extra ties for tight fits
VerdictThis barrier delivers substantial durability and a broadly adaptable fit for many vehicle types. Installation can take a little patience and occasional aftermarket straps or ties in tighter vehicles, but once positioned it holds pets securely, protects seats from scratches and is easy to remove and store. A solid choice if you want a long-lasting, metal partition to keep dogs in the cargo area.

Keeps my 55 lb dog contained
Worked well to keep my 55 lb Australian Shepherd in the rear and off my lap. Arrived quickly. Sturdy build and fast to assemble. Fits my 2026 Explorer perfectly and my dog was calmer on drives.

Works without roof pressure
The extra side pieces are optional — the middle section fit my Cadillac XT4 perfectly. I prefer this to pressure-mounted options that can mark the headliner. I mount it behind the front seats and don’t see any leather damage. Seat buckles are metal and solid.

Solid fit for my CX-5
Initial assembly was a little confusing but easy once we worked it out. Fits my Mazda CX-5 perfectly. Stable, doesn't affect front seat comfort, and keeps the dogs in the back. I'll buy another for my other vehicle.

Disappointed — unclear instructions
Very unhappy. Instructions were vague and it really takes two people to install. Pieces didn't align well, so I used zip ties after the return window closed.

Needed zip ties for Equinox
Performs well after some tweaking to fit my Chevy Equinox RSL; I used zip ties. Even with the adjustments, it's been one of my most useful purchases to keep my dog in the back and the cabin cleaner.

Straps could be better
Product performs well but the supplied straps to attach it to the front seats are poorly designed. I swapped them for bungee cords and that solved the problem.

Does the job in my Tucson
Purchased for the gap between backseat and cargo in my Hyundai Tucson hybrid. Needed a few trial placements of panels and connectors to get the fit right. Easier to assemble on a flat surface than holding it up. Came with a tiny paint chip (QC) and the sections can rattle, but it keeps the dog out of the seats as intended.

Compact enough for a Mini
Simple to install and keeps the interior clean. In my Mini Cooper it isn't a perfect match, but adjustable clips let me tighten it enough to work. Sturdy and washable.
