Avont Extra-Large Snuffle Mat for Dogs — 29.9" x 21.3" Slow Feeder
Product description
What’s in the box: one extra-large fleece snuffle mat (29.9" x 21.3"), two removable squeaky mushroom toys, and a strap for rolling and storage.
Materials and construction: the surface is made from layered, tear-resistant fleece arranged into deep pockets and leaf-like folds to conceal kibble and treats. The underside uses TPR non-slip material so the mat stays put on tile, wood, or laminate. The removable mushrooms add a sound incentive when hidden or used as small toys.
How it’s used: scatter or tuck dry kibble and treats into the fleece folds and pockets to encourage sniffing and foraging behavior. It’s intended to stretch a snack or mealtime from a couple of minutes up to 15–30 minutes depending on the dog and how food is hidden, helping reduce gulping and the risks tied to fast eating.
Care and precautions: the fleece is machine washable on a gentle, cold cycle; hang to air dry to preserve texture. The mat rolls up and secures with the included strap for compact storage or travel. Supervise very large or destructive chewers on initial use and during play to avoid ingestion of loose pieces.
Pros
- Extra-large area for longer foraging sessions
- Includes two removable squeaky mushrooms
- Machine washable and rolls up for storage
Cons
- Fleece can be torn by determined chewers
- Not suitable as a teething toy
- Stitches may wear with heavy abuse
VerdictAn effective enrichment mat that expands searching time and slows rapid eaters. The extra-large footprint and squeaky mushrooms increase engagement, while the TPR backing keeps it steady. Good for many dogs, though heavy chewers may damage the fleece over time.

Well made for medium dogs
Nice workmanship and an interesting design. It seems best suited for medium-sized dogs rather than very large heavy chewers.

Roomy enough for two dogs
I rescued two dogs — a mom and her puppy — and both enjoy sniffing through this mat. They sometimes squabble, but there are plenty of hiding spots so they can both search at once.

Cats tried it but attention faded
I bought this to increase my cats’ enrichment. With five cats, engagement varied: the shortest session was about two minutes, the longest around eight. They’ll use it willingly but they find treats pretty quickly. I’ll keep it in rotation as a quick enrichment tool, but don’t expect it to captivate every cat for long.

Keeps my 40-lb dog entertained
This mat holds my dog’s attention for a good stretch. He enjoys rooting through the pockets and the size suits a 40-pound dog well.

Mushrooms look great and puppy approves
The little mushrooms are visually appealing and my puppy enjoys them. The mat is a worthwhile addition to his toys and feeding routine.

Ideal for a senior dog’s snack time
For my senior celebrating a milestone, this mat was a hit. Lots of places to tuck treats and it stimulates his snack sessions nicely. Solid quality for casual use.

Adorable snuffling sounds from the pups
The girls have so much fun with this mat — they make the cutest piggy noises while searching for treats. It’s a joy to watch them play.

Huge hit with our Maltipoo
Our 16 lb Maltipoo absolutely adores this mat. I took out the squeaky mushrooms and washed the fleece on a gentle, cold cycle, then air-dried it with no damage and the fabric stayed soft. Filling the pockets with kibble only takes a minute and the larger size keeps him occupied far longer than his smaller mats. He can’t get enough of the squeaky mushrooms. The build feels good for non-destructive dogs — if yours tears things up, consider supervising.

Great for toddler play too
I bought this as a play surface for my two-year-old’s dinosaurs and it’s perfect: soft, foldable, and durable enough for stomping. It looks like grassy terrain for animal figures, launders easily, and tucks away in a toy tote. I removed the straps since they weren’t needed and paired it with a silicone palm tree set for sturdier play props.

A concerned buyer. 2/5
Good idea but durability problems
The concept and layout are excellent and my dog enjoys the hide-and-seek pockets, but the stitching came apart quickly. It hadn’t even been put through the washer when seams started to fail.

Also works for my cats
My cats love it. After chasing strings and balls they’ll use this mat and have a lot of fun exploring the pockets.

Perfect mealtime brain workout
I added this to my dog’s feeding routine for mental stimulation and she loved sniffing out her food. It’s simple for her to use but she can pull at the leaves, so I’d recommend it for small to medium dogs and pets that won’t try to shred the mat or run off with it.
