Barcelonetta Linen-Rayon Fabric — Natural Linen Cloth, 55" Wide
Product description
High thread count and denser weave - This linen-rayon textile is woven to a tighter thread count and a heavier GSM than lightweight linens, giving it more body and long-term durability for garments and home projects.
Blend and hand - Composed of 70% linen and 30% rayon, the fabric balances linen’s natural texture and breathability with rayon’s smoother, more fluid drape. The result is a soft, comfortable hand that works well for clothing and decorative uses.
Pre-wash advice - We recommend laundering the cloth before cutting and sewing. A first wash relaxes and aligns the fibers, reduces starchy packaging creases, and improves the softness and drape of the material.
Roll dimensions and uses - Supplied on rolls 55 inches (approximately) in width, this cloth is suitable for garments, curtains, linings, needlework and embroidery. Its weight and structure make it appropriate for summer dresses, shirts, home décor panels, and craft projects that need some body.
Performance notes - Expect good breathability and natural luster typical of flax-based textiles; it can wrinkle more than synthetics but rebounds well with hanging or a quick press. The heavier GSM supports frequent use and provides a stable base for stitching and embellishment.
Pros
- Durable, heavier GSM with a substantial hand
- Breathable linen feel with improved drape from rayon
- Wide 55" roll suitable for many sewing projects
Cons
- Will show linen’s natural creasing without care
- Contains rayon, so not 100% pure linen
- May require a pre-wash to reach optimal softness
VerdictThis Barcelonetta linen-rayon combines the cool, textured feel of linen with the drape and softness of rayon. The fabric’s higher thread count and GSM give it extra strength for apparel and craft work, while 55" roll width fits many sewing needs. Expect natural linen traits—good breathability and a tendency to crease—but improved hand after washing. A versatile option for dresses, curtains, embroi

Good value and steady performance
Held up well in the wash with minimal shrinkage and hardly any color loss. A comfortable medium weight for multiple uses.

Not pure linen — synthetic stretch present
If you expect 100% linen, this isn’t it—the fabric stretches more than true linen due to its synthetic content. It served my deadline but I’ll remake the item in pure linen later. On the upside, it’s soft and affordable.

Lovely curtain fabric
Bought to make foyer curtains. The material looked and hung beautifully.

Deep green with summer-ready drape
Lovely deep army-green shade in a mostly-linen blend that would make attractive warm-weather clothing. The fabric has a relaxed, natural flow and a pleasant hand. Hang it to reduce creasing, though linen naturally creases. Feels durable enough for social wear like garden parties and is well suited to dresses and shirts.

Great for embroidered household pieces
Nice linen for machine embroidery projects. It presses flat easily and doesn’t keep the folds from packaging. The white is slightly off-white, which I preferred over a stark bright white.

Sturdy and smooth — made nice skirts
A pleasant, firm fabric with a smooth finish. I ordered in pieces (2 yards each) to reach the yardage I needed and made A-line skirts with elastic waists.

Beautiful, easy to work with
Very attractive fabric and simple to handle. I wanted a denser weight but my final project still turned out nicely and the color matched perfectly. Would purchase from this maker again.

Handy for crafting and board covers
Used for a DIY project wrapping foam board; it was thin but not see-through and cut cleanly. Worked well for craft use but I wouldn’t pick it for garments needing very soft fabric.
