3-Pack Stainless Steel Wire Saws with Plastic Handles
Product description
Package contents and dimensions: The set contains three wire saws. Each saw measures 28.3 inches (72 cm) overall with a cutting wire length of 22.8 inches (58 cm). Handles are molded plastic in silver and blue.
Materials and construction: The cutting strand is manufactured from 304 stainless steel, assembled as four steel wires wound together to form a sharp, serrated cutting surface that resists rust and corrosion. The wire’s fine teeth are intended for slicing through wood, PVC, rubber, foam and similar materials.
Typical uses: These saws are sized for backpacking, emergency kits, pruning small branches, DIY woodworking curves, and other situations where a compact, lightweight cutter is needed. They are small enough to access confined spaces and can be useful for trimming animal horns, cutting garden tubing, or shaping craft materials.
How to use: Two-handed method — place thumbs or fingers through the pull rings at each end, tension the cable, and work the saw back and forth briskly to sever the material. One-handed/bow method — cut or notch a short branch slightly longer than the saw body, make small slots at both ends, insert the rings into the slots and bend the branch into a bow shape; operating the bow provides additional leverage for sawing.
Product care and support: The stainless steel wire resists rust but will last longer if cleaned and dried after use. The manufacturer offers a 30-day returns policy and customer support that promises a response within 24 hours if you encounter issues with the items.
Pros
- Lightweight and compact for travel or survival kits
- Sharp serrations cut wood, plastics, foam and horn
- Rust-resistant 304 stainless steel construction
Cons
- Plastic finger rings can crack under heavy strain
- Not intended for frequent, heavy-duty cutting
- Requires careful handling to avoid wire wear
VerdictThese compact wire saws offer a lightweight, portable cutting option for campers, hobbyists, and small-animal care. They cut cleanly through wood, foam, horn and many plastics, and their fine serrations and thin profile let you reach tight spots. The plastic finger rings reduce hand abrasion but are prone to breaking under repeated heavy use, so treat them as a low-mass emergency or occasional-use

Not suited for large pig tusks
Didn’t perform well on thicker pig tusks for larger breeds; not strong enough for that task.

Good emergency tool, not for continuous use
I keep these in survival kits. The wire cuts fine, but the small plastic rings aren’t built for constant heavy work — you might get through a few small trees before a handle fails. For lightweight, occasional backcountry use they’re adequate.

Handy for goat horn trimming
We have several goats that weren’t disbudded and the horns need regular trimming. These cables don’t yank like a hand saw and are much easier to position in tight areas. They’re quiet, simple to use and slice through horn quickly. The only downside is the plastic handles can snap if stressed, but at this price replacing one now and then isn’t a dealbreaker.

Useful backup cutter
Nice to have in a kit for small jobs or emergency situations — lightweight and easy to carry.

Works well on foam
Cuts foam in tight spots smoothly; a handy tool for tricky trimming jobs.

Easy to operate, very sharp
Used one to trim a goat whose horns curl inward. Holding the animal was harder than the cutting — the saw made quick work of the horn.

Sharp and solid cutter
Tried to pry a glued address tile from a stucco wall and couldn’t get behind it without scraping my knuckles, so the job failed — but the saw itself proved sharp and sturdy, good value overall.
