Vallejo Black & White Model Color Acrylic Set — 8 x 18ml
Product description
A curated palette for black-and-white painting tasks: this set gathers complementary base shades, midtones, highlights and shadow colors so you can build subtle transitions when working with only black and white family tones. The kit was developed with input from Ángel Giráldez and ships with a full-colour, step-by-step painting sheet that shows sequencing and shading techniques.
Each colour is supplied in a precision eyedropper bottle that allows controlled dosing and easier mixing on palettes. The screw caps seal tightly to slow evaporation and help preserve the paint between sessions. Bottles are designed for model painters who require repeatable amounts and minimal waste.
The formulation dries to a resilient matt finish that tolerates handling and display lighting without easily chipping or losing tone. These acrylics work well with brushes, airbrush systems, and standard layering or glazing techniques used on miniatures and scale models.
Vallejo’s water-based recipe is non-toxic and easy to thin, mix and clean up with water or compatible acrylic mediums. It suits both newcomers and experienced painters who need predictable flow and mixing behaviour.
Contents: 8 bottles of 18 ml each, in the following colours: 70.951 White, 70.918 Ivory, 70.986 Deck Tan, 70.821 German Beige WWII, 70.983 Flat Earth, 70.994 Dark Grey, 70.992 Neutral Grey and 70.950 Black.
Pros
- Well-chosen tonal range for black/white work
- Accurate eyedropper bottles for controlled dosing
- Durable matte finish, brush and airbrush compatible
Cons
- No agitator bead included for mixing
- Instruction sheet covers only a few face types
- Some translations in the guide can be rough
VerdictA targeted collection for achieving nuanced black-and-white schemes on figures and models. The paints deliver strong pigmentation, a durable matte surface, and convenient eyedropper dispensing. The included guide is helpful, though some users would prefer an agitator bead and broader tutorial coverage.

Handy guide but could be broader
The paints are high quality and the instructions help with shading, but the booklet only demonstrates two face types and lacks wash options; still a useful set.

Useful guides for larger-scale schemes
Clear photos make the steps usable despite awkward translations; geared to bigger scales but paints perform excellently.
