Short-Term Radon Test Kit — Prepaid Shipping & Lab Analysis Included
Product description
Radon is an invisible, odorless gas that can accumulate indoors and is a known cause of lung cancer among people who have never smoked. This short-term radon test kit is designed to help homeowners determine whether action is needed.
Each kit contains one short-term EPA-approved radon detector (a passive device roughly the size of a postcard), an instruction booklet that includes a QR code for online registration, and a prepaid return envelope with all lab and processing fees covered. There are printed setup directions and a space to record required information; scanning the QR code with a mobile device and completing the online form helps ensure the lab has the details it needs.
To use, unpack the detector, place it in the testing location (away from drafts, windows, and direct airflow) and expose it for a minimum of 3 days and no more than 7 days. After the exposure period, seal the device in the provided return packaging and mail it using the included prepaid postage. The sample is analyzed by an NRPP-certified laboratory recognized across the U.S. Once the lab receives the sample, results are typically emailed to the address provided within 24 hours.
The kit is intended as a screening tool to identify elevated radon so you can decide if follow-up testing or mitigation is required. All processing and lab fees are included in the purchase; the kit is for short-term testing only and is not intended as a continuous monitor.

Arrived past its use-by date
The kit I received had an expiration date three years earlier. I’m frustrated and disappointed with the brand for shipping an outdated test unit—especially since it was not cheap.

Simple to deploy and fast results
I wanted to check my bedroom so I hung the device from a ceiling fan blade, taking care not to disturb it. After a week I mailed it back and received my results quickly by email. Good inexpensive way to screen for radon.

Readings seemed unreliable
I ordered four kits. The first two returned very high readings (around the high 40s). To check, I ran the other two side-by-side on a table; those still reported the same high values while other brand canisters showed much lower numbers. The kits arrived with expiration dates matching that month, which may explain why they were discounted.

Worked as advertised
Setup was easy. I ran the test five days, mailed it on a Friday and had results by the following Wednesday. The email included help locating local mitigators. I’ll use these again seasonally.

No result at first — update
I hadn’t received results a month after sending the test and was very disappointed. Update: two weeks after I mailed it, the seller said the shipment had been delayed and they sent a replacement. Customer service was responsive.

Poor processing, had to repurchase
I followed every step, sent the kit in, and got no contact. When I followed up they said information was missing and the delay made the sample invalid. They indicated an elevated reading and told me I’d need to buy another kit to retest. Extremely frustrating and unprofessional handling.

Exceptional support from customer care
I mailed the test as instructed and didn’t see results after a week. Customer service told me there was still time for a valid reading. When my online status still showed nothing, they checked with the lab and shipping, and promised to send a replacement if it wasn’t resolved within 48 hours. The next day the lab received the sample and results were posted; customer service called to confirm I could access them. Very attentive for an inexpensive kit.
