Liver of Sulfur Gel — 2 oz Oxidizer for Jewelry
Product description
This product comes in a 2-ounce jar of non-runny liver of sulfur gel designed for producing oxidized finishes on silver and other metals. The container holds a generous amount to cover multiple small projects such as rings, pendants, coins, and small sculptural elements.
Formulated as a thick, no-drip gel, it stays where applied for accurate work on detailed textures and recessed areas. It oxidizes metals to a spectrum of tones — from subtle gray aging to rich black — depending on application thickness and exposure time. After the gel dries, the finish can be adjusted by lightly polishing raised areas or using a micro-abrasive pad to bring up highlights and contrast.
Application is straightforward: apply directly to the metal with a cotton swab, brush, or similar tool, let the reaction occur, then rinse or neutralize as desired. The product is intended for use on silver and other reactive metals; results and intensity will vary by alloy and surface preparation. Proper ventilation is recommended due to the characteristic sulfur smell during use.

Arrived opened and underpowered
The jar seemed to have its inner seal cut and smelled of sulfur before I even opened it. A few drops in hot water did work but the effect felt weaker and lighter than I expected. I kept it only because I needed it immediately; otherwise I'd have returned it. Won't reorder from this seller.

Great at re-oxidizing old pieces
Worked well on my antiqued rings — after re-oxidizing I buffed the high points and they looked refreshed and much like new.

Restored mokume-gane ring finish
I used this to bring back the oxidized silver in a mokume-gane ring composed of mixed metals. Following the label instructions, the silver darkened again quickly and the finish matched what the maker intended.
