Leather Hole Punch Set — 1/2/4/6 Prong Lacing Punches (4mm)
Product description
Pitch and sizes: Each prong tool produces stitch spacing of roughly 4 mm (0.16 in), making this set suitable for common saddle and hand-stitching gaps. The kit contains one single-prong, one two-prong, one four-prong and one six-prong iron to cover straight seams and curved sections.
Material and finish: The tools are finished in a silver tone and manufactured from carbon steel. The heads are ground to a sharp edge intended to slice clean slits or holes through vegetable-tanned leather up to mid-range thicknesses.
How to use: These prongs are meant to be driven through leather with a mallet or used in a manual press to avoid hammer noise or bounce. The multi-prong irons speed up marking and punching long stitch runs, while the single- and two-prong pieces let you finish tight spots and corners. After use, clean and store dry to protect the steel.
Pros
- Multiple prong sizes for straight and curved stitching
- Sharp, all-metal construction for clean cuts
- Approximately 4 mm spacing ideal for common saddle stitching
Cons
- Finer pins can bend under heavy use
- Six-prong may struggle on very thick leather
- May require a press or careful hammering for repeated jobs
VerdictA practical, all-metal set that lets hobbyists and small-scale craftsmen cut evenly spaced stitch holes quickly. The different prong counts handle straight runs and tight curves; blades are sharp out of the box. Expect a good value for occasional use, though heavier-duty or long-term workshop use may reveal durability limits in the finer pins.

Good concept and useful tools
Arrived on time and felt sharp and easy to use. Material seems appropriate for the tasks I’ve tried; long-term durability is still to be seen, but early impressions are positive.

Far faster than punching one by one
Made a purse with these and they sped up the work. Toward the end the prongs began to bend, but I managed to finish the piece without issue.

Does what I needed for stitching
Wanted a simple way to get uniform holes for hand-sewing leather. Saw it in use and grabbed one — it makes consistent holes and has been reliable so far.

Handy little set for occasional jobs
I don't reach for it daily, but when a project needs tidy, evenly spaced holes this set is a lifesaver. Solid metal build and a neat finish — exactly what I wanted for the odd repair or small project.

Practical alternative for hobbyists
Good substitute for pricier tools and reasonably sharp. I first used a mallet, then switched to a manual press to reduce noise and made a few tweaks for smoother operation.

4-prong was my go-to
I found the 6-prong hit unevenly on thicker pieces, so I mostly stuck with the 4-prong and used the 1- and 2-prong to finish edges and tight spots.

Exactly what I needed for a quiver
Prongs are sharp and handle 9–11 oz leather well. The variety of sizes makes it simple to prep straight runs and curves. The angled slits seem to lock the stitch better than parallel cuts. I used it to build an archery quiver with good results.

Efficient for tougher leather tasks
Sharp and well-formed, these punches helped me prep axe sheaths. They stood up to the job and made stitching sinew much easier. The set is handy for corner work, too.

Labeled carbon steel but behaves like mild steel
Initially these irons worked great, but after making several knife sheaths the pins—especially on the 4- and 6-prong pieces—started to drift and bend. They can be straightened, yet once bent they’re easier to deform again. I tried heat treatment attempts and couldn’t harden them, so they appear to be softer than expected. They’re a solid, inexpensive choice for beginners, but don’t expect pro-grade, hardenable carbon-steel performance.
