BaoFeng UV-5R 6-Pack Ham Radio Kit with Accessories
Product description
This bundle includes six BaoFeng UV-5R dual-band handheld transceivers plus a full complement of accessories intended to outfit a small team or club. In the box you get 6 radios, 12 rechargeable 1800mAh batteries (two per radio for primary and backup use), six high-gain NA-771 style long antennas, six short rubber duck antennas, six desktop charger bases, a 12V vehicle charging lead, six belt clips, wrist straps, earpieces, six speaker microphones and a single driver-free programming cable from TIDRADIO. A printed manual is included but many users prefer online guides.
Each UV-5R handset is built with a durable plastic housing and standard keypad/display layout for quick access to features. The long external antennas are rubber-coated with internal metal elements to improve transmit and receive performance compared with the short duck antennas. The batteries are rated at 1800mAh and the seller states standby times up to about 36 hours, enabling one battery to be active while the other is held in reserve.
The radios cover typical amateur bands: transmit on VHF 144–148 MHz and UHF 420–450 MHz, with receive capability from about 136–174 MHz and 400–480 MHz. The units claim compliance with part 15B and part 97 testing; FCC ID: 2AJGM-UV5R. Programming can be done directly from the keypad or via CHIRP and other software using the included driver-free cable. Each radio supports up to 128 memory channels and common privacy code options (105 CTCSS and 50 DCS) to reduce unwanted interference.
Operational features include dual-band display, dual-frequency operation, dual watch/monitor, VOX capability, busy channel lockout, scan, voice prompts, a built-in LED flashlight and an emergency alarm. These functions make the set suitable for event staff, outdoor groups, camps, and local volunteer organizations. Note that only one programming cable is supplied for the whole pack; teams may want to obtain additional cables and check firmware versions when distributing units.
Usage is straightforward: charge batteries in the desktop bases, attach desired antenna (short for local use, long for extended reach), configure channels either by keypad or by uploading a CHIRP file, and clip on the speaker mic or earpiece as needed. The kit is aimed at groups that need multiple radios ready to deploy with spare power and improved antennas for greater coverage.
Pros
- Complete six-unit kit with two batteries per radio
- Includes high-gain long antennas for increased range
- Driver-free cable enables CHIRP and keypad programming
Cons
- Only one programming cable included for the whole pack
- Batches may contain mixed firmware versions
- Some accessory units (mics) have been reported faulty
VerdictThis six-unit package delivers a practical, ready-to-use set of UV-5R handhelds with spare batteries and upgraded antennas for extended range. It’s a strong choice for group use, though watch for a single programming cable and occasional accessory defects reported by buyers.

Great for communication where cell service fails
Bought multiple sets to share with family on trips. They’re useful for hunting, road trips and mountain outings where phones don’t reach. Offers good value for off-grid comms.

Useful for local operations and small districts
Donated these to a rural water district and they cover our five-square-mile area using the long antenna. They’ve saved trips and improved coordination across remote sites. We operate on FRS bands for routine checks.

Excellent radios for event security teams
I equip a security team for public events and needed reliable, affordable radios. These radios delivered solid performance and clear audio for our staff. I plan to add coiled earpieces for better discreet listening, and I recommend using CHIRP over the bundled software for easier programming.

All speaker mics in my set failed
The radios themselves seem fine, but every external speaker mic in my pack had a bad connector. Applying pressure made them work briefly, but that’s not practical. I’ll return them and look for replacements from another supplier.

Works well for group or classroom buys
Good overall value for clubs or classes. Be aware there is only one programming cable in the set, and boxes are identical—pull the cable out before distributing. We found two firmware versions in our batch, so match units if you intend to clone settings.

Handy, reliable transceiver for licensed operators
As a licensed operator I wanted a compact, low-cost HT for our hunting club. Each small box contained the radio, two 1800mAh batteries, both short and long antennas, chargers, clips, a speaker mic and more. The included programming software was glitchy; switching to CHIRP solved setup issues for me.
