MPC Metallic Epoxy Pigment Powder — 160 g Satin Mauve
Product description
This product is a 160-gram metallic pigment powder formulated to add pearlescent and metallic effects to epoxy floor coatings. The powder is finely milled to move through clear epoxy as it cures, producing layered, shifting patterns rather than a flat color. One 160 g container is recommended for use with a 3-gallon epoxy kit; the pigment is intended to be blended into the resin before or during application to achieve the desired visual effects.
The pigments are compatible with epoxy floor systems and work particularly well when paired with three-gallon kits such as MPC-100. They can be used in homes, garages, retail spaces, and industrial environments where decorative yet durable finishes are desired. The powder is designed to create exotic looks — for example, lava-flow streaking or pearlescent sheens — because the metallic flakes move and orient as the epoxy levels and cures.
MPC manufactures a range of complementary products, including epoxy resins, polyurethane topcoats, and polyaspartic/polyurea polymer coatings. All products are produced on-site and undergo development and quality-control testing. Instruction manuals are included with products to guide mixing ratios, recommended coverage, surface prep, and curing times.
The pigment powder adds a high-sheen, industrial-grade finish and is marketed as low-maintenance and easy to clean once cured. Color options are broad — white, grey, black, brown, cobalt blue, green tones, gold, pink, and more — allowing designers and installers to tailor visual effects. While intended primarily for epoxy systems, surface preparation and application technique influence the final result; users should follow manufacturer guidance for primer, base coat, and topcoat recommendations.
For best results, combine the pigment with the manufacturer’s recommended epoxy kit ratios and follow the application process in the supplied instructions. Because the pigment creates variable, flowing patterns during cure, the same color mix will produce different looks on each pour, offering truly unique floor finishes.
Pros
- Creates dynamic pearlescent and lava-flow effects
- 160 g size suited for one 3-gallon epoxy kit
- Durable finish that’s straightforward to clean
Cons
- May require additional primer or coats on older substrates
- Limited effect if under-dosed in large kits
- Not optimized for sealing aged wood without extra prep
VerdictA durable, easy-to-clean metallic pigment powder that produces unique pearlescent and lava-flow effects when blended into epoxy. The 160 g size is intended to treat one 3-gallon kit, and the formula integrates with epoxy systems to create one-of-a-kind floor finishes. Results depend on mixing ratios and application technique; some users needed extra coatings on older substrates.

Solid product and helpful support
I ordered three 3-gallon kits for a garage floor and reached out to the seller for coverage guidance; their rep Alex was helpful. For my process I rolled a thin pre-tinted black base at roughly 200 sq ft/gal, sanded with 100 grit the next day, then mixed color pigments at about 6 oz per gallon of resin. I poured the primary resin and spread with a squeegee, added the secondary color, and back-rolled to blend and leave a metallic sheen. The metallic mixes covered at approximately 50 sq ft per gallon of resin.
