Deer Repellent — Deer Out 1 Gallon Concentrate
Product description
Made in USA: Deer Out 1 Gallon Concentrate is manufactured domestically and offered as a concentrate intended for dilution and spraying over ornamental and edible plants.
What’s included and sizes: This listing refers to a full gallon of concentrate. The product is also available in smaller concentrate sizes, but this package supplies enough solution to cover larger gardens and landscapes when mixed per label instructions.
Ingredients and formulation: The formula uses only natural ingredients and contains two plant-friendly “stickers” that help the active components adhere to leaves, stems and blooms. The scent profile is dominated by minty notes that are pleasant to people but unappealing to deer, elk and moose.
Performance and use: Designed for year-round application—spring, summer, fall and winter—the concentrate is diluted and applied with a pump sprayer or similar applicator. It’s rain-resistant under normal conditions, though heavy or repeated downpours will require reapplication. Safe for use around children and pets when used as directed, and suitable for ornamental beds, shrubs, fruit trees and vegetables.
Pros
- Minty scent pleasant to people
- Uses all-natural ingredients
- Adheres to foliage and resists normal rain
Cons
- Requires reapplication after heavy rain
- Not effective on every individual animal
- Use more in spring for new growth
VerdictA dependable, all-natural concentrate that repels deer when applied regularly. It clings to plants through normal weather but needs reapplication after heavy or repeated rains. Good coverage for large areas when diluted and used on a schedule.

Saved our harvest
We don’t have a fence, just sprayed regularly with this concentrate and it protected our vegetables and fruit trees. It’s been the difference between a ruined season and a good harvest for us.

Keeps deer away and smells pleasant
This stuff really keeps deer out when I spray on a consistent schedule. I protect tulips, roses, lilies and hostas by reapplying frequently. The fragrance is minty rather than offensive like some other repellents.

Our yard is no longer a deer buffet
Deer treated our garden like a buffet until we began using this. Start at first growth in spring, reapply about every two weeks on fast-growing hostas, and touch up after heavy rain. We mix roughly 13 oz of concentrate per gallon of water in a pump sprayer for large areas. It’s all-natural, pet-safe, works on rabbits too, and keeps our beds intact when applied regularly.

Finally enjoy my hostas again
After switching to this concentrate in 2023 I stopped losing hostas to the local deer. I had several deer passing through daily, but treated plants fared much better. I bought a smaller bottle first, then the gallon; it lasted across seasons. You’ll spray more in spring for new shoots and reapply after heavy rain, then every few weeks once plants are established.

Effective, but not foolproof
It genuinely reduces browsing, but don’t expect perfection. In areas with dense deer populations some animals will still sample treated plants, and a few seem indifferent. You’ll need to reapply after rain and be diligent during peak growth periods for best results.

Works exactly as advertised
This product outperformed other deterrents I’ve tried. Instead of a rotten smell it has a peppermint-like aroma humans don’t mind but deer avoid. I bought the gallon and it covered my beds. It stays on through normal rain but heavy, repeated storms mean you’ll need to reapply. When I treated all vulnerable plants, the deer left them alone.
